Buyer Agreement

In addition to signing a contract, all of our buyers are asked to agree to provide a safe and loving home to nurture your new puppy. The care we expect includes, but is not limited to, a healthy diet, safe shelter and environment, proper veterinary care, and continued vaccinations and de-wormings. It is equally expected that your new puppy will continue to be given proper play time, training, and socialization all packed full with the utmost of love. These commitments will ensure that your new puppy will thrive mentally, socially, physically, and continue to develop wonderfully, in turn being able to offer you their truest, most lovable selves for a lifetime.

The Process of Adopting

When adopting from Goldenrod Streams, we like to keep things personal. If you are interested in a puppy, you are more than welcome to call me directly. You're also welcome to email or text, but eventually, I would like to have a quick call with you to go over a couple of things. In the meantime, here is an overview of the adoption process at Goldenrod Streams.

1. Call, text, or email to let me know you are interested in one of our puppies.

2. If available, I will have you select the puppy you are interested in adopting.

3. A $500, non refundable deposit is placed to hold your puppy.

Remaining payment is due at pick up if paying with cash, or a minimum of 2 weeks before pick up if paying with check. Cash is preferred.

4. When possible, an appointment is set to visit the puppy. (*Please see below for expected appointment protocol.)

5. A date and time will be agreed upon for pick up of your new puppy.

6. Updated pictures and weight will be posted on my website weekly so you can watch your puppy grow.

7. When puppy has reached 8 weeks, you will be welcomed to come and take your new puppy home!

*Appointment Protocol

PLEASE BE ON TIME. Contact me as soon as possible if you are running late as I book appointments back to back at times. If you fail to do so, please understand that your time might be cut short. APPOINTMENTS WILL BE KEPT STRICTLY TO 1 HOUR FOR THE CONSIDERATION OF THE MOTHERS AND PUPPIES.

PLEASE DO NOT come directly from pet stores, dog parks, other breeders, or places where dogs frequent. Our puppies health is of UTMOST importance to us. This will help reduce any risk for our puppies to come in contact with microscopic viruses and germs. YOU WILL BE ASKED TO WASH YOUR HANDS AND REMOVE YOUR SHOES BEFORE ENTERING THE PUPPY ROOM.

What We Will Provide:

In addition to the AKC papers and care package, each puppy will go home with a veterinary exam and health certificate. They will be properly dewormed for their age, and first vaccinations will have been given. This health information will be recorded, and sent home with you for your records.

LITTER BOX TRAINING: We begin litter box training our puppies at 3 weeks old. As soon as they are able, we want them to begin learning where their eating, sleeping, and potty areas are. At 3 weeks, I introduce a low boot tray filled with cat litter pellets made of recycled paper. Within a few days, most of the puppies already understand what to do, and begin pulling themselves into the tray to relieve themselves. Around 4.5-5 weeks, I transition to a 4 inch high cat litter box filling approximately 2 inches with the pellet litter. At this point, the puppies are able to jump in and our of the litter box and do a pretty good job knowing that is the area to go potty. By the time they go home at 8 weeks, most of the pups make it into the litter box about 85% of the time.

It will be up to you if you would like to continue this type of training, or begin outside training right away. However, I highly recommend maintaining litter box training if your puppy is coming home during cold months. A new puppy can become very chilled when taken outside when it's cold, even with coats or sweaters. This should be avoided when possible while the puppy is still very young.

This allows for mom's scent to imprint onto the toy, and will provide your puppy a great amount of comfort as they transition into their new home.
