Buyer Responsibility:
When purchasing a puppy from Goldenrod Streams we ask that you agree to provide a safe and loving home to nurture your new puppy. This proper care will include: a healthy diet, safe environment and shelter, proper veterinary care, and continued vaccinations and dewormings. Socialization and much time spent playing, training, and loving your new puppy is also very important. All of this can help ensure that you have a mentally, socially, physically, well developed, and healthy puppy.
PLEASE BE ON TIME for your allotted appointment . If running late please contact me by phone or text. I typically have appointments back to back so your time might be cut short. Thank you.
Please make note:
We ask that you do not come directly from pet stores, dog parks, other breeders, or other places that dogs frequent. This will help reduce risk to our puppies from contacting microscopic viruses and germs. Thank you for your consideration as our puppies health is of utmost importance to us.
You will be asked to wash your hands and remove your shoes before you enter my puppy room.
Health Information:
We provide each puppy with a veterinary exam and health certificate. All proper dewormings for age of puppy and first vaccinations will be given by us. This health information will be sent home with you to keep for your records.
Litter Box Training:
....starts at 3 weeks old. I want my puppies to know their sleeping, eating, and potty areas. I feel that this is VERY important in keeping themselves and the puppy playpen clean.
At 3 weeks old I introduce a low boot tray filled with cat litter pellets made of recycled paper. ( either Yesterdays News Cat Litter by Purina original texture unscented, Sophresh Odor- Control Paper Cat Litter with Baking Soda from Petco or other paper cat litter brands ) Within a few days most of the pups are doing well with this setup by pulling themselves into it and relieving themselves. By 4 & 1/2 - 5 weeks old I introduce a 4 inch high cat litter pan filled approximately 2 inches with the pellet litter. The pups are now able to jump in and use this size cat pan. I would say when pups leave here at 8 weeks old they pretty much make it into the litter box 85% of the time.
Most people do not continue using the litter box when they take their puppy home in the spring, summer or early fall. They usually start training immediately to an outside potty area. In the winter it is a blessing to have it ....taking a new puppy outside in very cold weather is difficult even with a sweater or coat pups can still get chilled. So I advise winter puppy buyers to continue this method until the weather breaks.
I will offer anyone who needs or wants to continue with this type of training...a brand new litter pan like the kind they use here and a ziploc bag filled with enough cat litter pellets to get you started immediately when you get home. Sometimes having this makes the transition to a new home a bit easier.
This is complimentary along with the puppy care package which is listed next.
